Tea Party Committees

Political Action

Elect qualified public servants at all levels who will support Tea Party Patriots core values. Successful “Get Out the Vote” campaigns are a key element of our political action.

Objectives:
·         Identify upcoming elections at the local, state and national levels. 
·         Review qualifications of known candidates.
·         Recruit and encourage qualified candidates to run for office.  
·         Build strong campaign base and coordinate with existing political structure
·         Recruit individuals for PCO positions.
·         Develop 2012 election objectives and action items.
·         Key campaign support initiatives:  voter registration, “Get Out The Vote”




Government Affairs (National)

Work with legislators and their staff on national level to insure that tea party values and   positions on issues are well understood by lawmakers.

·         Maintain active liaison with local, state and national tea party groups.
·         Identify pending legislation and communicate action items we need to implement.
·         Identify key issues of concern and suggest appropriate responses.  Topic may include:  balanced budget amendment, repeal of health care bill, tax reform, job creation, deficit reduction, cap and trade, immigration, etc.
·         Develop process to monitor and communicate voting records of state and federal elected officials, including judges at all levels. 



Government Affairs   (State)

Work with legislators and their staff on state level to insure that tea party values and positions on issues are accurately conveyed to all legislators.

Objectives: 
·         Interface with Eastern Washington tea party groups on topics of mutual concern.
·         Maintain regular contacts with local, state and national tea party groups.
·         Identify pending legislation and communicate action we need to take.
·         Identify issues of concern and suggest proactive responses.  Topics may include:  balanced budget amendment, repeal of health care bill, tax reform, job creation, deficit reduction, cap and trade, immigration, etc.
·         Develop process to timely monitor and communicate voting records of state level elected officials, including judges.

Government Affairs  (Local)

Attend important community meetings and public planning sessions to insure that a tea party presence and point of view is accurately communicated at such venues.  Alert tea party members when possible taxation and policy changes inconsistent with our core values appear imminent.

Objectives: 
·         Inform public of scheduled meetings and agenda.
·         Communicate information to IT team to post on web site calendar.
·         Attend local meetings on regular basis.  These may include school board, city council and various county government meetings.
·         Present relevant tea party positions as appropriate.



IT Team

Ensure that reliable information technology applications are in place so Walla Walla Tea Party can readily communicate its message to our various constituencies.
                   
Objectives: 
·         Develop, maintain and update website, blogs, Facebook, email, calendar and other methods of communication.
·         Establish links on web site to other reputable sites such as Heritage Foundation, Washington Policy Center, Evergreen Freedom Foundation, etc.
·         Develop calendar listing upcoming tea party meetings/events and local, state and national events
·         Develop calendar outlining pending legislative votes and other action items as needed.
·         Facilitate release of timely news alerts to membership.


Public Relations

Accurately communicate tea party views on critical local, state and national issues to members of the media and the general public.

Objective: 
·         Assist in informing the general public on important subjects related to our nations’ heritage.  This could include the Liberty Lecture Series, American flags in schools, distributing pocket Constitutions, speaker’s bureau, letters to the editor, newsletter,

·         Ensure that information on tea party activities, events and other programs is accurately communicated to radio, TV, reputable internet blogs and print media.
·         Develop strategies to recruit to tea party membership: youth, young adults and other targeted subgroups.





Events Team

Plan tea party sponsored events appropriate to our point of view that are both interesting and relevant to Walla Walla residents and neighboring communities.

Objectives:
·         Develop fundraising plan and coordinate with Policy Committee on appropriate fundraising activities. Basic funding sources of tea party activities may include monthly/annual dues, fundraising events such as pie sales, movie night and donation jar at monthly meetings
·         Identify local events in which WW Tea Party should participate.  Such events could include 4th of July at the Park, Walla Walla County Fair, Veterans Day Parade, etc.
·         Identify and recommend rallies or other events that WW Tea Party should sponsor, such as April 15 Tax Day Rally.
